To open incoming links from other apps in the right Lite App, Hermit must be set as the default browser.
If you have already created a Lite App for a particular site, all links corresponding to it will open in that Lite App. Any other links (for which there is no corresponding Lite App) will open in Incognito Mode by default.
For any incoming link, Hermit first checks if there’s a Lite App for that exact domain. If one is found, then the link is automatically opened in that Lite App.
If no exact match can be found, then Hermit will look for any Lite App that is owned by the same primary owner. E.g. “calendar.google.com”
links may open in your Lite App for “mail.google.com”
if (and only if) you do not have a separate Lite App for “calendar.google.com”
.
If there’s no corresponding Lite App, Hermit will automatically open an Incognito Mode browser for that link.
Privacy has always been a core feature of Hermit, and we reinforce that by making Incognito Mode the default for all links where there is no existing Lite App.
(This is similar to privacy-focused browsers like Firefox Focus.)
