Getting Started with Hermit

What are Lite Apps?

Lite Apps are Web Apps, they use Web-based technologies and can be accessed through any browser. Hermit provides several additional features over other browsers that make Lite Apps look and feel more like native Android apps.

1. Set up a Lite App

Hermit comes with a rich Library of Ready-Made Lite Apps that can be set up in just one click. We’ve already hand-picked the best quality icon, already set up all the Integrations, Atom/RSS feeds, and have pre-configured the ideal settings for each Lite App.

To set up, press the button in the bottom right corner, which brings you to the full catalog. Scroll down to the Section you want to see (News, Social, Productivity, …) and tap on the app icon to install any Lite App instantly.

2. Uninstall your Native App

Hermit Lite Apps completely replace the functionality of your native apps, so you no longer need the original native Android app. We recommend that you uninstall them as soon as possible for the best possible battery savings.

Advanced Usage

Customize your Lite App

Hermit allows powerful customization options for each Lite App. To customize every aspect of the user interface,

1. Launch your Hermit Lite App.
2. Tap on the Settings button to open the “Quick Settings” sidebar.
3. Within Quick Settings, tap on the “More Settings” button.

Create Your Own

Hermit can be used for any site, even if it is not currently available in the Library. For your own custom Lite Apps, select the “Create Your Own” option and type in any site’s address or search for it by name. When you are at the page you want, press the “Create a Lite App” button to set up your own custom Lite App.
